From the airport it takes one hour by boat across the lagoon to the other side.<br> <br> Fakarava is the second largest atoll in the Tuamotus and offers excellent diving in the Garuae Pass with sharks, rays and dolphins. Most of the islands population live at Rotoava which last counted had 470 people.<br> <br> The beautiful lagoon island of manihi is perfect for pearl farming and this atoll is now the centre and largest producer of black pearls in Tahiti.
